My Job as an SLP

161 words目標: 150 WPM

My name is Isobe. I am a speech-language pathologist, or SLP. I work at a hospital in Chiba, Japan. Every day, I help patients who have trouble speaking or swallowing. Some of my patients had a stroke. Others have diseases that affect their muscles. I use special exercises to help them get better. For example, I ask patients to repeat words and sentences. I also check if they can swallow food safely. My job is sometimes difficult, but I love it. When a patient speaks a full sentence for the first time after a stroke, I feel very happy. I studied speech therapy at university for four years. After that, I passed a national exam to become an SLP. In Japan, we call this job "gengo choukakushi." I want to keep learning new methods to help my patients. Recently, I started studying English because I want to read research papers from other countries. I believe that learning English will make me a better SLP.
